Just another day in paradise
The mobile rings heartlessly to wake you from your extended nap of 3 hours. But what do you do? Snooze the alarm, reset the alarm to wake you after seven minutes and get back to your sleep. Time now, 9:00 AM. You finally wake up and after an ineffectual cleansing of the teeth you rush to class.
Ignorance is bliss they say but morning classes, unmatched ecstasy. It’s at this time you get all philosophical and question your life. Lol. Prof shoots a question at you. Thud!! Back down to reality. You fumble and smile and use your memory to make up a grammatically correct – logically incorrect answer and the professor nods in approval at your idiocy.
You rush to grab a bit o’ breakfast leftovers and the cuppa chai when it’s almost lunchtime. You rush back to classes or back to the hostel for an assignment submission. Such is the quality of life here, if you can associate any quality to it. Assignments, quizzes, meetings and talks, brain wracking sessions ( believe me when I say this that you’ll run short of whacky ideas and all your ideas will seem banal. You need so many around here that you run out of them really quickly), quick lunch, birthday parties, weekend classes, social service, parties, booze, gyaan from peers and seniors.. sigh.. everything’s in the list except SLEEP. You will feel yourself floating in time as insignificantly as a feather moving about as it instructs you to. You are helpless and sometimes lonely too. Memoirs of your past. Wishing to be in a better place. Thinking about mom’s food and missing dad’s boring lectures and all those people close to you whom you wouldn’t stop fighting with. Thinking about yourself you’d walk away from b school life to spend some time in contemplation (who am I kidding?? “In self pity” would be a better usage :-P)
The wind in your hair and the mild rumbling of the thunder, you sit on the park bench. At a distance, beyond your ipod music you hear the faint cheering of the mess bhainas playing cricket. With a book in your hands as you finish one page after the other, you feel at the top of the world. These are the moments that periodically remind you of the fact that nothing can ever take time away from you. In fact B School Life can only remind you to make time for yourself.
